SOG has strong SHOT Show in Orlando, FL.
-
- SOG was awarded two very prestigious awards and debuted several
new products that continue the SOG tradition of superior quality
and innovative designs. Even though show attendance was down
the SOG booth was consistently crowded with customers curious
about SOG's hot new creations.
- Each year Field and Stream magazine awards the Best
of the Best¹ to companies for their superiority over the
competition in bringing exciting products to the marketplace.
SOG was awarded for the cutlery category... The X-42 Field Knife
was named for its superior steel, ergonomic design and balanced
feel. This knife uses BG-42 steel, a super steel that custom
knife makers rave about, but until now has not been utilized
successfully in a production environment.
- SOG was pleasantly surprised when Andrew Molchan, the editor
of American Firearms Industry Magazine, came to the booth and
awarded SOG for outstanding product of the year. AFI is a well-respected
publication that is among other things, outspoken on the rights
of the shooting industry.
- For new product releases, SOG added an item to the extremely
successful Flash line of folding knives. This camouflage patterned
Zytel handled version was requested by popular demand from outdoorsman
as well as military personnel. This is the only assisted technology
knife in the industry to use camouflage handles. The Flash II
employs S.A.T. (SOG Assisted Technology) for lightning fast one
handed opening and features a built in locking safety, new ergonomic
design, and ambidextrous mounting bayonet clip.
- New to the SOG line and a phenomenal hit with show attendees,
were the evolutionary Twitch knives. Invented by Spencer Frazer,
the Patent pending Twitch I & Twitch II feature a pass-through
lockbar, from which the "kick" of the blade sticks
through. By pressing on the "kick" one is able to initiate
the opening of the blade. The Twitch gentleman pocketknives feature
SAT (SOG Assisted Technology), hard anodized aluminum scales,
and a built in safety. Available early summer 2003.
- Another great debut for 2003 was the SEAL-Revolver. SOG has
pioneered a fixed blade with a twist... actually a complete revolution.
The secret of the SEAL-Revolver is the patented technology developed
by Robbie Roberson. With this design you can depress the locking
lever and rotate the blade to transform the knife into a saw.
It's so easy and cool you'll wonder why it wasn't done a long
time ago. SEAL-Revolver knives are expected to be available late
spring 2003.
- SOG was very pleased to have in the booth Robert J. Hanna,
inventor of the Groove sheath and an active Navy SEAL. Rob was
there to make sure that people 'Got with the Groove'. This patent
pending design allows a fixed blade knife to be used without
unsheathing to cut line and webbing. Look for the Groove sheath
to be phased in upcoming months on the SEAL Pup, SEAL Knife 2000
and other fixed blades.
